In a recent meeting aimed at addressing internal divisions, Law and Justice (PiS) leader Jarosław Kaczyński and former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki failed to reach a consensus, leaving unresolved tensions within Poland’s main opposition party. Despite the lack of a breakthrough, efforts to mend the rift continue, as highlighted by PiS Member of the European Parliament Piotr Müller.
Müller announced that the group had put forward 21 compromise proposals designed to bridge the internal divide and foster unity within the party. He emphasized that these proposals were crafted with a sense of goodwill and loyalty, underlining a commitment to fortifying the centre-right political bloc. The aim is to rebuild trust and cohesion within the party ranks.
Defending the establishment of the Rozwój Plus association, Müller noted its role in extending support for the centre-right and drawing in new voters. He addressed concerns regarding the association’s funding, stating that legal opinions had been sought and provided to clarify these issues. The association’s creation is part of a broader strategy to strengthen the party’s appeal and electoral prospects.
While expressing a desire to find common ground, Müller firmly opposed the idea of signing any loyalty pledges or declarations that he considered demeaning. He stressed that PiS should prioritize policy development and electoral victories over internal disputes, advocating for a political movement that remains broad and inclusive.
