Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has confirmed the approval of Ukraine’s long-range defense operations for October, alongside the finalization of plans to bolster the country’s air-defense capabilities with additional F-16 fighter jets by the end of the year. Negotiations are underway with multiple partner countries to secure aviation support packages. Belgium has committed to providing Ukraine with three F-16 fighter jets by the close of 2026. Furthermore, Belgium and Spain have expedited the delivery of essential F-16 ammunition to Ukraine, addressing the immediate needs of the Ukrainian military.
In response to the increasing threat posed by Russia’s jet-powered Shahed drones, Ukraine is advancing its defense technology by developing new interceptor systems. Zelensky highlighted that initial prototypes have been identified, and efforts are now focused on setting production targets, securing funding, and establishing delivery timelines for these interceptors.
This development marks a significant step in Ukraine’s strategy to fortify its air-defense systems.
