The current interim leadership of the defence ministry is under the special forces commander Yevhenii Khmara, which complicates Fedorov’s potential return without another leadership overhaul. Protestors have announced plans for another demonstration in Kyiv, vowing to continue their rallies until Fedorov is reinstated. This political impasse is fueling concerns that the standoff could extend into a second week if unresolved.
In the midst of these domestic challenges, Ukraine has ramped up its military efforts against Russia, launching drone strikes targeting military and economic sites within Russian territory. Newly appointed Commander-in-Chief Drapatyi is tasked with expanding offensive operations, bolstering military capabilities, fostering technological advancements, and intensifying maneuvers behind enemy lines. His appointment has been met with support from several Ukrainian political and military leaders, who consider him an experienced and competent choice for the position.
However, military officials caution that Drapatyi faces significant hurdles, including the threat of increased Russian troop mobilization in the coming months.
