Tusk Pushes for New Vote to Challenge Nawrocki’s Crypto Legislation Block

Poland’s Prime Minister Donald Tusk is making another attempt to secure parliamentary approval to override President Karol Nawrocki’s veto concerning legislation on the regulation of the country’s crypto-assets market. Tusk announced his intention to request Sejm Speaker Włodzimierz Czarzasty to bring the matter back to the parliamentary floor for reconsideration. This marks a continued effort by Tusk’s government to see the bill passed despite the president’s repeated objections.

President Nawrocki has vetoed the proposed legislation on three separate occasions, with the latest instance occurring in June, following previous rejections in December 2025 and February 2026. The president has consistently argued that the legislation, even in its latest iteration, fails to adequately address his office’s concerns that were raised during its formulation. Nawrocki has emphasized that his willingness to sign the bill hinges on necessary corrections being made to resolve these issues.

The disagreement over the crypto-assets regulation has intensified, with Tusk alleging that the issue is linked to broader allegations involving political and media entities tied to the former ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party. Tusk has suggested that the situation may involve an organized network and has accused certain interests of channeling funds between cryptocurrency businesses, PiS-affiliated media organizations, and high-ranking politicians.

In his statements, Tusk specifically mentioned the cryptocurrency exchange Zondacrypto, highlighting the growing seriousness of the case. While asserting the government’s non-interference with ongoing police and prosecutorial investigations, Tusk insists that the parliamentary body should once again assess Nawrocki’s veto. This move by Tusk sets the stage for a renewed confrontation between the government and the presidency over the contentious crypto-assets legislation.

As the debate continues, President Nawrocki remains firm in his stance that any legislative proposal must undergo necessary corrections before receiving his signature. The ongoing tension underscores the complexities and challenges involved in establishing a regulatory framework for Poland’s burgeoning cryptocurrency market.
