Trump Vows ‘Guaranteed Death’ for Iran’s Leaders as War Enters Deadly New Phase

In language unprecedented for a sitting American president, Donald Trump stood before cameras at the White House and warned Iran’s leadership that they faced “absolutely guaranteed death” unless they surrendered. The stark declaration came as US and Israeli forces conducted some of the most intense bombardments of the week-old conflict, pounding targets across Iran and Lebanon simultaneously.
The military campaign has been sweeping in both scope and ambition. US B-2 stealth bombers dropped dozens of 2,000-pound penetrating bombs on hardened underground missile launch sites inside Iran. A large Iranian naval vessel believed to be used as a drone launch platform was also struck and possibly sunk. The defense secretary confirmed that American firepower was “about to surge dramatically.”
Iran struck back with force across the region, launching missiles and drones at military targets in Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain. Several of those countries reported successfully intercepting the incoming projectiles. In Bahrain, however, officials confirmed that strikes hit two hotels and a residential building, raising the civilian toll. In Lebanon, Hezbollah continued to fire volleys of rockets into northern Israel even as Israeli airstrikes reshaped Beirut’s southern districts.
The most grievous single incident of the conflict so far involved an airstrike on an Iranian girls’ school that killed more than 100 students. American military investigators believe US forces were likely responsible, though a final determination had not yet been reached. The strike drew widespread condemnation and added to international pressure for a ceasefire that neither Washington nor Jerusalem appeared prepared to accept.
Trump has reframed the entire campaign as one aimed at regime change, publicly calling on the Iranian people to overthrow their government. The White House press secretary elaborated that Iran would be considered in a state of unconditional surrender once Trump determined it no longer posed a threat to the United States, regardless of whether Tehran formally acknowledged the outcome.
