Taiwan and Ukraine have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Warsaw, Poland, to provide humanitarian assistance for underprivileged Ukrainian children impacted by the ongoing war. The signing was witnessed by Taiwan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Lin Chia-lung during his visit to Poland ahead of his address at the Warsaw Security Forum.
The MoU was signed by Taiwan’s Representative to Poland Jeff Liu and Tetiana Badylevych, deputy director of the Kyiv City Center for Social Services for Families, Children and Youth. The initiative focuses on offering mental health support, essential supplies, and foster family assistance for children in the Kyiv region who lost their parents due to the Russian invasion.
The project will be managed jointly by the Italy-based NGO WeWorld and the Taiwan Fund for Children and Families, with backing from Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Several Ukrainian lawmakers, including Mykola Kniazhytskyi, Yaroslav Yurchyshyn, and Andrii Lopushanskyi, attended the ceremony, reflecting growing collaboration between Taiwan and Ukraine in humanitarian fields.
Minister Lin emphasized Taiwan’s ongoing commitment to supporting democratic partners and vulnerable groups globally. He is scheduled to speak at the Warsaw Security Forum on “Reinvention of the Global Democratic Supply Chain,” highlighting the importance of international cooperation in times of crisis.
